Overview
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186) is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer. This visa allows you to live and work in Australia permanently.
Pathways
There are three streams under the subclass 186 visa:
Direct Entry Stream
For applicants who have never or only briefly worked for the nominating employer
Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream
For subclass 457 or 482 visa holders who have worked for their nominating employer for at least 3 years
Labour Agreement Stream
For applicants nominated under a labour agreement
Eligibility Requirements
Nomination Requirements:
- You must be nominated by an approved Australian employer
- The nomination must be for a position on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Your employer must demonstrate genuine need for the position
Skills and Qualifications:
- Have skills and qualifications relevant to the nominated occupation
- Meet the skills assessment requirements (unless exempt)
- Have at least 3 years of relevant work experience (Direct Entry stream)
English Language:
- Demonstrate competent English (IELTS 6.0 in each component or equivalent)
- Some exemptions may apply
Age:
- Generally under 45 years of age at time of invitation (some exemptions apply)
Health and Character:
- Meet health and character requirements
